Exhausted

Well, I got my glasses repaired - though it was risky cause they were damaged so badly that the optician told me there was a very good chance they would break when he tried to repair them. But when he called me an hour later and told me to come pick up my eyewear, I was thrilled.

Now Lou was aghast that my glasses cost me so much - but my last pair lasted 6 years, and I still have them. The only reason I changed them cause they had lost their colour and honestly, they were a bit dated. But when I buy glasses, it is a serious investment. I don't mind spending a lot on a pair of glasses - considering they're outerwear, worn on the part of the body people stare at the most, they have the ability to drastically change one's appearance, I have to wear them everyday and I wear them almost all the time, and I need durable cause I am a busy person who often drops her glasses. lol. So yeah, I spend a pretty penny on them. And I hate having to say this everytime - not quoting in US dollars here.

The weekend is all about me getting some much needed rest. The new job keeps me very busy and I have worked late every day this week. Thursday was the worst though. I spent 18 hours in heels - literally running around in them, and now I feel like the nerve endings in my toes are shot. When I try to walk with bare feet, I feel pins and needles in my toes. It hurts like woah. My feet are crying out for some tender love and care. I went into the shoe store today and saw the hottest pair of red heels but uh-uh...tried on some loafers instead. When you work with some real divas though, you feel compelled to still try them on and see...just see how they look. Yeah. I work in an office of divas where it's almost like a competition to see who looks best on any given day. I think I have my own style which has worked well for me since I joined the workforce after university and I know what I like and what looks good on me with regards to colour, cut, style etc. So I don't feel this overwhelming need to compete with workzillas. Still, I saw those shoes looking really good with some grey trousers and my new red shirt. But not at the expense of my feet's comfort.

I am very tired and for once I am happy that I don't have a life - cause it's all about lying in bed this weekend and just vegging and sleeping. Adonis called me last night to tell me he still misses me and I guess I will hold on to that this weekend, cause he is not here to rub my feet and that's really what I need right about now. But gosh, I feel lonely.

  1. Great shoes!

I did guess you weren't talking about US$ for your glasses (wouldn't that be about TT$25,000?) but they're still some mighty expensive spectacles. I thought I'd gone completely overboard with my latest NZ$900 ones but I am obviously an amateur spender :-) next to you.

  2. They're beautiful deep burgundy titanium frames made in Japan, and I have the annt-reflective coating as well...which costs a bit extra.

  3. The titanium sounds like a good idea actually, I do worry about what a clutz I am and the damage I could do to my new specs if I were to drop them or sit on them or whatever.

  4. I agree about the glasses. A good looking pair of glasses that fits the owner is worth their weight in gold. My current glasses need to be replaced. I still like them, I just know they are outdated now. Would love for you to post a photograph of your new lenses.
Oh can I relate to the pins and needles in the toes. I see another foot doctor on the 26th. (Wasn't getting a good feel for the first one I saw.)

  5. Well, JF, they're not new. I got them last year. they were just repaired. As for photos, I did post a photo on the JS version of this blog, where I could control who saw it etc. I won't be posting any photos here anytime soon. Sowee.

  6. HT, Great looking heels! I'm so happy to see the platform craze dying out, those shoes were just ugly. However, I've heard many a woman complain of the cost to their feet and lower back for looking great in heels.

I guess looking great comes at a price, and perhaps, very unfairly. Unfortunately, there's no disputing that pump heels are extremely beautiful and sexy.

As for glasses, I usually spend around $400US for my glasses. $200 for frames and $200 for lenses. Not bad, considering that I now wear blended bifocals.

As a man, and one who is not going to win any Mr. Universe contests, I have the luxury of being able to spend as much or as little as I want for clothing, glasses and outerwear. Because, no matter what I do, nothing is going to really make me look that much better than I already do.

As they say, "You can't polish a turd." lol
